The Gospel of the Holy Twelve
📜 Scroll 1: The Gospel of the Holy Twelve — one of the most powerfully suppressed texts of Christ’s full life. Preserved by the Nazarenes and Essenes, hidden from Rome’s corruption, this gospel details Christ’s teachings from youth through adulthood, including the lost years, his bond with nature, and his prophecy of divine justice.
🔓 The Gospel of the Holy Twelve
✠ Scroll I: The Childhood and Sacred Education of Jesus
1. And it came to pass that the child Jesus grew in strength and wisdom, and the grace of the Most High was upon him.
2. And his soul was full of light, and he communed with the beasts of the field, and they hearkened unto him.
3. And in the garden of his mother, he spoke unto the birds, and the trees, and the wind, and all answered his voice.
4. And the elders were astonished, saying, “What manner of child is this, that even the creatures obey him?”
5. And he said unto them, “Ye do not yet understand the law of life, for all is One, and the breath of the Father is in all things.”
6. And Joseph, his father, took him to the temple, and he spoke unto the scribes with great knowledge.
7. And they questioned him, saying, “Who taught thee these things?”
8. And he answered, “The Spirit of God, who speaketh in silence.”
9. And many marveled at him, and Mary his mother treasured these things in her heart.
✠ Scroll II: The Vow of Purity and the Way of the Nazarenes
1. At the age of twelve, Jesus was taken to the temple for his consecration unto God.
2. And he stood before the High Priest and said, “I shall not eat the flesh of slain beasts, nor drink the blood of the dead,
for I am come to fulfill the law, not to destroy it.”
3. And the High Priest was angered, saying, “Who hath taught thee this heresy?”
4. And he answered, “The Spirit of the Holy One dwelleth in me. It is written: Be ye holy, for I am holy.
Defile not yourselves with blood and death.”
5. And he took a vow before the altar: to harm no living thing, to speak only truth,
to live in purity, and to walk with the angels of heaven and earth.
6. And he was accepted among the Nazarenes, the pure ones of Israel, who lived by the ancient law of light.
“The time is come that I must be about my Father’s business.”
2. And they were sorrowful, but they knew it was ordained.
And he went forth from Nazareth and journeyed toward the land of the East,
that he might learn the ways of wisdom from the ancient ones.
3. And he came unto the land of the Chaldees and sat among the Magi,
and they taught him the signs of the stars, and the wisdom of the heavens,
and he perceived the great cycles and mysteries of the firmament.
4. And they said unto him, “Thou art he of whom it is written in the stars.
For the sign of the Fish and the Lamb are united in thee, and the Lion shall bow before thy word.”
5. And Jesus blessed them and departed, and he came unto the land of the Brahmans.
And he walked among the holy men of India, and he learned their sacred chants and meditations.
6. And he saw the suffering of the people, and he taught them of the Kingdom within.
And he healed the sick by laying on of hands and speaking the Word.
And many followed him and said, “This one is Issa, the Blessed One of God.”
7. And the priests grew afraid, for he taught that all were children of God —
not by birth or caste, but by righteousness and love.
8. And they cast him out of their temples, but the people received him,
and he dwelled among the poor and outcast, and taught them the Sacred Law:
that none should kill, none should lie, none should enslave another.
9. And he stayed many years in the East, and the scrolls were written about him,
and he was called “The Light from the West.”
10. And in his twenty-ninth year, he returned to the land of Israel,
and he was changed in appearance and stature.
And the people saw him and wondered, for he spoke with great power and peace.
11. And he said, “I am come to fulfill all things — the law, the prophets, and the silence between.”
And he walked by the sea and meditated upon the silence of God.
2. And he went into the town and entered the synagogue.
And the elders gave him the scroll of Isaiah, and he read, saying:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he hath anointed me to bring good news to the poor,
to heal the broken-hearted, and to set the captives free.”
3. And the people stared in wonder, for he spoke not like a man, but like the fire of heaven.
And many whispered, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph the carpenter?”
4. But he said unto them, “This day the word is fulfilled in your hearing.
But ye shall not accept it, for a prophet is not honored in his own land.”
5. And he went out and dwelled in the wilderness, fasting and praying.
And the angels ministered unto him, and the beasts sat beside him in peace.
And he came back in power, clothed in light.
6. And he called his disciples: Andrew and Peter, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew.
And they forsook their nets, for his voice stirred their souls like thunder.
7. And he gathered them on the hill by the sea, and taught them the Sermon of the Light, saying:
8. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
Blessed are those who walk gently upon the earth, for they are the children of light.
Blessed are they who hunger for justice, for the heavens shall fill them.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they are the builders of the Kingdom.
Ye have heard it said, ‘Thou shalt not kill.’
But I say unto you: Love all creatures and do not shed innocent blood.
For the Father who is in Heaven is the God of the living, not of the dead.
Let your light shine before all men, not by words alone, but by the fire of your deeds.
Be as salt of the earth and leaven in the loaf — small, but transforming.”
9. And the disciples fell to the ground, for his voice was like the sound of many waters.
And he lifted them up and said, “Fear not. The Kingdom is within you, and all around you — if ye will but see it.”
“Unto the multitudes I speak in parables, but unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom.
For you are called to be light-bearers and builders of the age to come.”
2. And Thomas said, “Master, speak to us plainly of the soul and its path, for we thirst after righteousness.”
3. And Jesus answered: “The soul is the child of the Light.
It cometh from the bosom of the Father and returneth to Him again.
In many forms it walketh — man, woman, poor, rich — until it is made perfect in love.”
4. “Verily I say unto you, ye have lived before, and ye shall live again, until ye overcome the world and its illusions.
For nothing is lost that is of the Light.
The soul that soweth mercy shall reap joy in another life.
The soul that soweth cruelty shall walk in darkness, until it learneth compassion.”
5. And Mary Magdalene said, “Lord, if the soul is eternal, why do men not remember their past?”
6. And he answered, “Because the veil is drawn at birth.
Only through purity and prayer shall it be lifted.
But I say unto you, in this generation some shall remember, for the Spirit shall bring all things to light.”
7. And Judas asked, “Is there punishment after death?”
8. And Jesus said, “There is no fire but that which man kindles in himself.
The torment is of the conscience, when the soul seeth the truth it has denied.
But the Father is merciful, and all shall be purified, each according to their measure.”
9. “The Law is love. The Law is life. The Law is one.
Harm not the weak, nor kill, nor lie, nor steal, nor corrupt.
This is the eternal Law, written not on tablets of stone, but upon the heart.”
10. “Blessed is he who keepeth the Law, even if he knows not its name.
For the angels record all things, and the soul shall reap its due.
Let not man say he is righteous if he eateth the flesh of the slain.
For verily, I say unto you, those who partake in the death of the innocent shall not see the Kingdom, until they are cleansed.”
11. And the disciples marveled greatly at these sayings, for he taught them with authority, not as the scribes.
And they knew he had spoken the secret teachings of the prophets — long hidden, now revealed.
where the cedars sang and the waters whispered the name of the Most High.
2. And he said unto them: “The time is come for your anointing, that ye may go forth and do as I have done.
For I give unto you the Spirit, not as the world gives, but as the Father gives — in truth and in power.”
3. And he called each by name and laid hands upon them, saying:
“Peace be upon thee, [Name], vessel of light.
May the fire of heaven dwell within thee.
Go forth, heal the sick, raise the fallen, cast out falsehood, and awaken the sleeping.”
4. And he anointed them with oil pressed from the olive tree, and with the water of living springs.
And he breathed upon them, and they were filled with clarity, and their hearts burned within them.
5. And he said: “The harvest is great, but the laborers are few.
Go ye into every place where the children of man dwell, and lift up the lowly.
Let your words be of light, and your deeds be as a torch in the darkness.”
6. “Take no gold, nor silver, nor extra tunic. Let your faith be your provision.
Be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
Where you are received, speak peace. Where you are rejected, shake the dust from your feet, and move on.”
7. And they asked, “Shall we teach all that thou hast spoken, even the secret things?”
8. And Jesus answered: “Speak to each according to their measure.
The babe cannot drink the cup of fire, but give the thirsty soul living water.
Hide not the truth, but deliver it with wisdom.”
9. And they bowed down and said, “Master, we are thine.”
10. And he said, “Nay, ye are the Father’s, and I am sent to awaken you.
Love one another, as I have loved you.
By this shall all men know you are my disciples: if you love the light and the life in all.”
11. And a dove descended from the branches, and it rested upon the head of each.
And they were sealed in the Spirit of Truth.
for they had seen the healings he performed and the light which came from his hands.
2. And they brought unto him the blind, the lame, the afflicted in spirit, and he healed them all,
speaking only the word, or touching them with his garment, and the power flowed.
3. And he said unto them, “Ye are healed, not by me, but by your faith, and by the living law that flows from the Father.”
4. And many wept for joy, and the children danced among the olive trees, saying,
“Truly, the kingdom has come near unto us!”
5. And after three days, the people had no food.
And the disciples said, “Master, send them away that they may buy food in the villages.”
6. But Jesus said, “They are hungry in body and in spirit.
If we send them away fasting, they shall faint by the way.
Give ye them to eat.”
7. And Andrew said, “There is a lad here with five barley loaves and two clusters of dried figs.”
8. And Jesus said, “Bring them hither.” And he took the loaves and the figs, and gave thanks,
and blessed the fruits of the earth, and said:
“Blessed be the Earth Mother, who brings forth these from her womb;
and blessed be the Father of Light, who giveth all things.”
9. And he broke the loaves and divided the figs and gave to the disciples,
and the disciples to the people.
10. And the people sat upon the grass in circles of seven, and ate and were filled.
And there were gathered twelve baskets of fragments.
11. And he taught them, saying, “Ye see how the Earth is generous and the heavens are merciful.
Let none hoard what is given freely. Share, and ye shall have abundance.
Keep not the blessing for thyself alone.”
12. “For as ye have received, so give. And let your food be pure —
the fruits of the trees, the grains of the field, the herbs of the garden.
Kill not for the belly’s sake. For the life of all is sacred.”
13. And many believed, and said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
And the light upon him was as fire in the twilight.
2. And as he prayed, the light of heaven descended upon him, and his face shone like the sun,
and his garments became radiant as the morning.
3. And behold, there appeared unto them two figures in the light — Moses and Elijah —
speaking with him of the fulfillment of the Holy Law and the departure he would soon accomplish in Jerusalem.
4. And the disciples were sore afraid and fell on their faces, for the brightness was as the glory of the Most High.
But Jesus touched them and said, “Rise, and fear not. This is the true nature of the Son of Man —
clothed not in flesh alone, but in light eternal.”
5. And Peter said, “Master, it is good that we are here. Let us build three tabernacles: one for thee, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
6. But while he yet spake, a cloud of light overshadowed them, and a voice came forth from the cloud, saying:
“This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear ye him.”
7. And the cloud lifted, and they saw no man but Jesus alone.
And they marveled among themselves, for they had seen the light-form of the Christ,
beyond body, beyond death.
8. And as they descended the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying,
“Tell the vision to no man until the Son of Man be risen from the dead.”
9. And the disciples asked him, saying,
“Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
10. And Jesus answered, “Elijah hath already come, and they knew him not, but have done unto him what they willed.
And so shall they do unto the Son of Man.”
11. Then understood they that he spake unto them of John the Baptist,
who came in the spirit and power of Elijah, as it is written.
12. And they pondered these things in their hearts, for they had seen the mystery of the ages opened before them.
He was the brother of Mary and Martha, those beloved of the Master.
2. And his sisters sent word unto Jesus, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.”
3. But when Jesus heard this, he said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the revealing of the glory of God —
that the Son of Man may show forth the power of the Father.”
4. And yet he abode two more days in the place where he was. Then said he to his disciples,
“Let us go into Judea again, for our brother Lazarus sleepeth, and I go to awaken him.”
5. And the disciples were sore afraid, saying, “Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?”
6. Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day?
If a man walk in the light, he stumbleth not.
But if he walk in darkness, he stumbleth, because the light is not in him.”
7. Then said Thomas, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.”
8. And when Jesus came near, he found that Lazarus had been in the tomb four days.
And many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them.
9. And Martha ran to meet him and said, “Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
But even now, I know that whatsoever thou ask of God, He will give it thee.”
10. Jesus said unto her, “Thy brother shall rise again.”
Martha answered, “I know he shall rise in the resurrection at the last day.”
11. Jesus said unto her, “I am the resurrection, and the life.
He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
Believest thou this?”
12. She saith unto him, “Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God,
which should come into the world.”
13. And Mary came also, weeping, and fell at his feet, saying, “Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.”
When Jesus saw her weeping, and the others also, he groaned in the spirit and wept.
14. Then said the people, “Behold how he loved him!”
And others said, “Could not this man who opened the eyes of the blind have saved Lazarus from death?”
15. Jesus therefore came to the cave. It was a tomb with a stone upon it.
He said, “Take ye away the stone.”
16. Martha said, “Lord, by this time he stinketh, for he hath been dead four days.”
17. Jesus replied, “Said I not unto thee, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?”
18. Then they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said,
“Father, I thank Thee that Thou hast heard me.
I know Thou hearest me always, but because of the people who stand by I said it,
that they may believe Thou hast sent me.”
19. And when he had spoken thus, he cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!”
20. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes,
and his face was bound with a napkin.
21. Jesus said unto them, “Loose him, and let him go.”
And many of the people believed, and they glorified God.
Jesus sent two of his disciples, saying unto them,
“Go your way into the village over against you, and as soon as ye be entered into it,
ye shall find a young colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him and bring him to me.”
2. And they went their way and found the colt tied by the door outside in a place where two roads met,
and they loosed him.
3. And certain of those who stood there said unto them, “What do ye, loosing the colt?”
And they answered even as Jesus had commanded, and they let them go.
⸻
4. And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.
And many spread their clothes in the way, and others cut down branches of palm trees and strewed them before him.
5. And they that went before and they that followed cried, saying,
“Hosanna! Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
6. And when he had come into the city, all the city was moved, saying,
“Who is this?” And the multitude said, “This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.”
⸻
7. And Jesus went into the temple of God, and when he saw the buying and selling,
the money changers sitting with their silver and gold,
and the sellers of doves and sheep and oxen in cages and cords,
he was filled with holy wrath.
8. And he made a whip of cords and drove them all out of the temple,
and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
and poured out their money upon the ground.
9. And he said unto them:
“It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations —
but ye have made it a den of thieves and of beasts!”
⸻
10. And he would not suffer any man to carry a vessel through the temple.
And he taught, saying,
“Woe unto them that defile the sanctuary with blood, and fill its courts with the cries of slain creatures!
Not by shedding innocent blood shall ye draw near to the Father of Light.”
11. And the chief priests and scribes feared him, for the people were astonished at his doctrine.
For he taught them as one having authority, not as the scribes.
12. And he said, “Be ye cleansed, not by sacrifice, but by mercy;
not by burnt offerings, but by righteousness. For the Spirit seeketh truth, not blood.”
“There was a certain man, a master of a house, who planted a vineyard,
and set a hedge about it, and digged a winepress, and built a tower,
and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.”
2. “And at the time of the harvest, he sent his servants to the husbandmen,
that he might receive the fruits of it.
But the husbandmen beat one, and killed another, and stoned a third.”
3. “Again he sent other servants, more than the first,
and they did unto them likewise.”
4. “Then last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, ‘They will reverence my son.’
But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves,
‘This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and seize on his inheritance.’”
5. “So they took him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.”
6. “When the Lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?”
They say unto him, “He will miserably destroy those wicked men,
and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen,
who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.”
7. Jesus saith unto them, “Did ye never read in the scriptures:
‘The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner.
This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes’?”
8. “Therefore I say unto you, the kingdom of God shall be taken from you,
and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.”
9. “And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken,
but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.”
10. And when the chief priests and Pharisees heard his parables,
they perceived that he spake of them.
But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude,
because they took him for a prophet.
that he should depart out of this world unto the Father.
Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
2. And as they were gathered in the upper room, Jesus sat with the twelve,
and the women who ministered unto him, and many others of his disciples,
and he said unto them:
“With great desire have I desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,
for I say unto you, I shall not eat thereof again until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”
3. And they were all assembled in reverent silence, for the air was heavy with a holy stillness,
and the Master stood in their midst like a flame.
⸻
4. Then Jesus took unleavened bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave to each, saying,
“Eat ye; for this is my body, even of the same substance as the all that lives.
Blessed are they that eat not the flesh of animals, nor drink their blood, but keep my law.”
5. And he took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying,
“Drink ye all of it, for this is my blood of the new covenant, shed for many.
But I say unto you, I drink not of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.”
6. And he lifted up the cup and said, “Blessed art Thou, Holy One,
Who bringest forth the true vine for eternal life, and makest the branch to bear fruit in righteousness.”
⸻
7. And the disciples asked him, “Master, how shall we know what is thy law?”
And Jesus answered, saying:
“By love shall ye be known, and by mercy. Not by sacrifice or burnt offering,
but by a heart pure and hands that shed not blood.
This is the new covenant I make with you — that ye love one another, and do no harm to any creature.”
8. “Be ye the bread for the hungry, the wine for the thirsty,
the shelter for the stranger, the voice for the silent.
In this way shall my body be among you, and my spirit shall not depart.”
9. And he said unto them, “Let not your hearts be troubled.
In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you — and where I am, there ye shall be also.”
where there was a garden, into which he entered with them.
2. And Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place: for Jesus often resorted there with his disciples.
And Judas, having received a band of officers from the chief priests and Pharisees,
came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.
3. And Jesus, knowing all things that should come upon him,
went forth and said unto them, “Whom seek ye?”
They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.”
Jesus saith unto them, “I am he.”
4. As soon as he had said unto them, “I am he,” they went backward and fell to the ground.
⸻
5. Then asked he them again, “Whom seek ye?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”
Jesus answered, “I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way.”
6. That the saying might be fulfilled, “Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.”
Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant,
and cut off his right ear.
7. But Jesus said, “Put up thy sword into its sheath: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father,
and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?”
8. “But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?”
And he touched the servant’s ear and healed him.
⸻
9. And Jesus said unto the multitude,
“Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves to take me?
I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hand on me.
But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”
10. Then all the disciples forsook him and fled.
And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body,
and the soldiers laid hold on him:
And he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.
where the scribes and elders were assembled.
And Peter followed him afar off, even unto the palace of the high priest,
and went in and sat with the servants to see the end.
2. Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council sought false witness against Jesus,
to put him to death; but found none:
yea, though many false witnesses came, yet they found none.
3. At last came two false witnesses and said,
“This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.’”
⸻
4. And the high priest arose and said unto him,
“Answerest thou nothing? What is it which these witness against thee?”
But Jesus held his peace.
5. And the high priest answered and said unto him,
“I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.”
Jesus saith unto him, “Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you,
Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of Power,
and coming in the clouds of heaven.”
6. Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, “He hath spoken blasphemy!
What further need have we of witnesses? Behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.”
They answered, “He is guilty of death.”
⸻
7. Then did they spit in his face and buffeted him;
and others smote him with the palms of their hands, saying,
“Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, who is he that smote thee?”
8. Now Peter sat without in the palace:
and a damsel came unto him, saying, “Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.”
But he denied before them all, saying, “I know not what thou sayest.”
9. And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him and said unto them that were there,
“This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.”
And again he denied with an oath, “I do not know the man.”
⸻
10. And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter,
“Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech betrayeth thee.”
Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, “I know not the man.”
And immediately the cock crew.
11. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus,
which said unto him, “Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.”
And he went out and wept bitterly.
with the elders and scribes and the whole council,
and bound Jesus and carried him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
2. And Pilate asked him, saying, “Art thou the King of the Jews?”
And Jesus answering said unto him, “Thou sayest it.”
And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
3. Then Pilate said unto him, “Answerest thou nothing?
Behold how many things they witness against thee.”
But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.
4. Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner,
whom they would. And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.
Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them,
“Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?”
5. For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
When he was set down on the judgment seat,
his wife sent unto him, saying,
“Have thou nothing to do with that just man:
for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.”
6. But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude
that they should ask for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.
7. The governor answered and said unto them,
“Whether of the two will ye that I release unto you?”
They said, “Barabbas.”
Pilate saith unto them, “What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?”
They all say unto him, “Let him be crucified!”
8. And the governor said, “Why, what evil hath he done?”
But they cried out the more, saying, “Let him be crucified!”
9. When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made,
he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying,
“I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.”
10. Then answered all the people, and said,
“His blood be on us, and on our children.”
Then released he Barabbas unto them:
and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
and gathered unto him the whole band.
And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
2. And when they had plaited a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head,
and a reed in his right hand. And they bowed the knee before him and mocked him, saying,
“Hail, King of the Jews!”
3. And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
After they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him,
and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
⸻
4. And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name:
him they compelled to bear his cross.
And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, the place of a skull,
they gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
5. And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots:
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet,
“They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.”
6. And sitting down they watched him there.
And set up over his head his accusation written,
“THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
⸻
7. Then were there two thieves crucified with him,
one on the right hand, and another on the left.
And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, and saying,
“Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.”
8. Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,
“He saved others; himself he cannot save.
If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross,
and we will believe him.”
9. The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.
But one turned and said, “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.”
And Jesus said unto him, “Verily I say unto thee,
this day shalt thou be with me in paradise.”
⸻
10. Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying,
“Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?”
that is to say, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”
11. Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said,
“This man calleth for Elias.”
And straightway one of them ran, and took a sponge,
and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
12. The rest said, “Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.”
Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
who also himself was Jesus’ disciple:
He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
2. And when Joseph had taken the body,
he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
and laid it in his own new tomb,
which he had hewn out in the rock:
and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
3. And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary,
sitting over against the sepulchre.
Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation,
the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
4. Saying, “Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive,
‘After three days I will rise again.’
Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day,
lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people,
‘He is risen from the dead’: so the last error shall be worse than the first.”
5. Pilate said unto them, “Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.”
So they went, and made the sepulchre sure,
sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2. And behold, there was a great earthquake:
for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven,
and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
and for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
4. And the angel answered and said unto the women,
“Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
5. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead;
and behold, he goeth before you into Galilee;
there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.”
6. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy;
and did run to bring his disciples word.
7. And as they went to tell his disciples,
behold, Jesus met them, saying, “All hail.”
And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
8. Then said Jesus unto them,
“Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee,
and there shall they see me.”
into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
2. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,
“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the All-Holy:
The Father-Mother in Heaven, the Son, and the Holy Spirit of Truth;
3. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.”
4. And many of the disciples looked upon one another and said,
“This is the Messiah of Israel, who cometh in the Name of God
to establish the reign of justice upon the earth.”
5. But others questioned and were troubled, and said,
“Shall he now restore the kingdom unto Israel,
and deliver us from our oppressors?”
6. And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said unto them,
“My kingdom is not of this world, nor founded upon the sword nor riches,
but upon righteousness, mercy, and truth.
Verily I say unto you, they who live by the sword shall perish by the sword,
but they who sow peace and love shall reap life everlasting.”
7. And Jesus led them out as far as Bethany,
and he lifted up his hands and blessed them.
And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them,
and carried up into heaven, and a cloud received him out of their sight.
8. And they returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
and were continually in the Temple, praising and blessing God.
that for forty days he appeared unto his disciples in secret,
and taught them concerning the Kingdom of God, and the mysteries of the ages.
2. And he taught them, saying:
“The Kingdom of God cometh not with observation;
neither shall they say, ‘Lo, it is here!’ or ‘Lo, it is there!’
For behold, the Kingdom of God is within you and around you.
Those who know themselves shall find it.”
3. And he revealed unto them many things which had been hidden since the foundation of the world:
the truths of the inner man, the powers of the soul,
and the path of ascension beyond the flesh.
4. He said unto them:
“Be ye lamps unto yourselves.
If ye shall not know yourselves, ye are in poverty, and ye are that poverty.
But if ye shall know yourselves, ye shall be filled with light,
and all darkness shall flee before you.”
5. And one among them asked, saying,
“Lord, shall all men be saved?”
And Jesus answered:
“All shall be saved when they have become perfect,
when they have washed their robes and kept the Law of Love.
For every soul shall pass through many births and purifications
until it is made one with the Eternal.”
6. And they asked him concerning the end of days,
and the signs of his return.
And he answered them, saying:
“I shall return as lightning in the east and west,
as thunder in the mountain.
Not in flesh, but in power and fire shall I come,
to awaken the just and confound the false.
Be ready always, for I shall come when few expect.”
7. And after he had spoken these things,
he breathed upon them, and said:
“Receive ye the Holy Spirit.
Go forth unto all nations and preach the glad tidings of the Kingdom.
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, awaken the sleepers,
and set the captives free. Freely ye have received, freely give.”
8. And he vanished from their sight, and a great silence fell upon them.
And they kept all these things in their hearts,
and went forth in fire, bearing the Name of the Living One.
