The Second Treatise of the Great Seth
“I have spoken a discourse in order to reveal the glory of the one who is invisible, the truth that rests in the Father’s secret place.”
“I was sent from the aeon of perfection to the aeon of sorrow.
And those who governed it knew me not, and did not comprehend from where I had come.”
“I did not remain in the flesh that was made by the archons; instead, I moved in apparitional form, like a stranger passing through a shadow.”
“I laughed at their ignorance.
For they thought they had seized me and captured me by their crucifixion rituals.”
5. And I drew near to them, and they handled me and felt me, and said, “We have captured the Savior, the Son of God.”
6. And I laughed, and they marvelled. For I did not remain in their grasp.
7. They said, “Let us bind him with nails,” and they thought they had bound me.
8. But as they bound me, I slipped away, for their bonds were of ignorance.
9. They said, “Let us cast him into death,” and they believed they had done so.
10. Yet I was not in death; I remained in the life of the aeons, beyond their deception.
11. They said among themselves, “Let us crucify him until his flesh dies.”
12. And they lifted me upon the tree, but I was not in the tree; I was in the aeon from which I came.
13. They said, “Two robbers shall die with him,” but I was not then in the flesh.
14. And when they had pierced my side with a lance, I was not in that side; I was in the region of the invisible.
15. And when they mocked me, I endured not; I laughed at their ignorance, for they knew not what they did.
16. They said, “This is he who gave life to others, yet he cannot save himself.” But I was not in the tomb, for I was in the glory of the Father.
17. Then they came to the place called Resurrection, and they said, “Let us raise him from the dead.”
18. But I was not in the tomb; I was in the aeon from whence I came, abiding in the silence of the Spirit.
19. And they said, “He has risen, let us capture him again!”
20. But I laughed, and I said, “You have not seen me, for I am in the place you cannot pierce.”
21. And they pursued me, but I was in the aeon, far above their power.
22. And all the powers marveled at my departure, and they said, “We did not bind him, nor did we kill him; we have been deceived.”
23. And I entered into the glory of the Father, in the place from which I came forth,
24. and I said, “Let the preaching of the aeons cease, for I have come to reveal the Father’s Hidden One.”
25. And they questioned me, “Who are you?”
26. I answered and said, “I am he who is; I am the Son of Man; I am the Resurrection; I am the Life.”
27. “I shall disclose these mysteries to my elect, that they may know Him who is ineffable.”
28. And their counsel was confounded, for they perceived they could not exceed the power of the Hidden One.
29. And I spoke to them, “Let those who have ears hear, and those who have understanding recognize.”
30. “For I have come to abolish the laws of ignorance and to reveal the path of pure Light.”
31. “The flesh you touch is but a shadow; the tree you saw me on is but a symbol.”
32. “The death you thought you wrought upon me is the birth of the Hidden One within.”
33. “Let them write this in the hearts of those of light, that they may walk without bondage.”
34. “Let them proclaim it in the veiled places, for the hidden shall be revealed.”
35. And when I had spoken, the heavens opened, and a divine voice said,
“Behold the glory of the Son, and the power of the Hidden One, and the knowledge is fulfilled.”
